Celebrate New Bike & Pedestrian Overcrossing on Wednesday, April 24

The City of Woodland invites residents to celebrate the new Sports Park Drive Bike & Pedestrian Overcrossing with a ribbon cutting and celebration on Wednesday, April 24 at 5 PM.

The long-planned Bike & Pedestrian Overcrossing connects newer neighborhoods in the southeast area to the west side of our community. The bridge, which opened to the public in February, is a critical component of the City’s General Plan vision to create a dedicated path from Ashley Avenue to County Road 102 called the Woodland Parkway. Once fully complete, this Parkway will enable residents to access the existing north/south bike lane corridors throughout the city as well as convenient access to the City’s Community & Senior Center and Sports Park. In addition, the overcrossing enhances safety and accessibility for students riding their bikes to school, residents enjoying parks facilities, and cyclists commuting or exercising.

“The overcrossing project marks a significant milestone for Woodland as we work to enhance our bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure, improve recreational opportunities, and promote healthy, active lifestyles within the community,” said Mayor Tania Garcia-Cadena. “Projects like this are crucial to promoting active transportation and meeting our sustainability goals.”
